Clearwater's Dolphins: Volunteers Wanted
Volunteers are needed to watch over the 50 sculptures at Pier 60 Park through Sept. 4.
“Dolphin Docents” are needed to watch over the pod of Clearwater's Dolphins.
Volunteers are needed to work two hour shifts with one to two people each shift. The volunteers will help keep the public from damaging the dolphins, climbing on them or stealing items from the dolphins.
Shifts are:
- from 10 a.m. – Noon, Noon – 2 p.m. , 2 – 4 p.m., 4 – 6 p.m., and 6 – 8 p.m Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
- from 2 – 4 p.m., 4 – 6 p.m., and 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The art should get additional eyes as it will be on display during the Republican National Convention. The convention is expected to bring about 50,000 visitors to the Tampa Bay area. Some of the delegates will be staying at beach hotels and resorts during the convention, which is Aug. 27-30.
“Clearwater’s Dolphins: Pod at Pier 60” project is sponsored by the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce and the City of Clearwater.
The exhibition displays 50 dolphins sponsored by local businesses, organizations, and private citizens. Each dolphin was designed and decorated by local artists that were selected through a Call to Artists jury process.

One more note, this was a brilliant idea to promote not just Clearwater, but Tourism and our beautiful state of FL!I love that the art touched on NASA, marine life,our beaches....WOW, can't say enough!
