Clearwater Among Best Paying Cities for Women

Clearwater-St. Pete-Tampa made the Top 10 list of Best Paying Cities for Women.

The Clearwater-St. Pete-Tampa area just squeaked into a Top 10 list of the highest paying regions for women in the U.S. to work.

Clearwater-St. Pete-Tampa was No. 10 on the list, which is still a coveted ranking. Another southwest Florida region also performed well: The Sarasota-Bradenton area came in third place, according to Loop21.com.

It's commonly known that women in full-time jobs make less than their male counterparts (an average of 78 percent as a percentage of men's salaries).

But the wage gap varies, depending on geographical area, according to the Institute for Women's Policy Research.

So for women willing to move, or those lucky enough to be in the right spot, here's a look at the best-paying cities for gals.

1. Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana, California: Women's pay as a pct. of men's: 91.4%

2. Fresno, California: Women's pay as a pct. of men's: 89.1%

3. North Port-Bradenton-Sarasota, Florida: Women's pay as a pct. of men's: 87.5%

4. Las Vegas-Paradise, Nevada: Women's pay as a pct. of men's: 87.0%

5. Stockton, California: Women's pay as a pct. of men's: 87.0%

6. McAllen-Edinburg-Mission, Texas: Women's pay as a pct. of men's: 86.5%

7. El Paso, Texas: Women's pay as a pct. of men's: 85.6%

8. San Antonio-New Braunfels, Texas: Women's pay as a pct. of men's: 85.5%

9. Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach, Florida: Women's pay as a pct. of men's: 85.4%

10. Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida: Women's pay as a pct. of men's: 84.8%
